Best Weather Apps To Prepare For Severe Weather

The Sunshine State is not always sunny.

The weather in Florida can be unpredictable and can be dangerous.  The potential for high winds, tornado and hail can happen really quickly and without warning.

A beautiful sunny day can turn into a severe weather situation quickly.  Especially during Hurricane Season.

Florida’s Hurricane Season runs June 1 through Nov. 30. It is very important to be alert and aware of the weather to stay safe.

There are so many great apps out there that can help you plan ahead or be alerted when there is potential for bad weather.

Three weather apps to be sure to download are:

WeatherBug

WeatherBug gives you anything and everything you need to know before you head out for the day.

The app gives you detailed hourly forecasts, including the humidity, cloud cover wind and precipitation probability. Its 10-day forecasts also includes predictions for how both the day and night will be.

Their in-app map feature provides modes for severe weather, lightning, air quality, pollen and more to give you the most detailed information before you head out for the day or hunker down indoors.

AccuWeather

The AccuWeather app offers the “MinuteCast,” which breaks down forecasts by the minute.

MinuteCast gives you an in-depth outlook for the next four hours, including when rain will start and stop and what the temperature will be at specific times.

AccuWeather also offers standard weather information like daily highs and lows in temperature and weather conditions. It even has a section on the homepage dedicated to allergies and an easy-to-access section for severe weather.

StormShield Weather Radio

Need up-to-date weather information in a pinch? Storm Shield Weather Radio is there to update you on severe storms as they happen.
