Well, the groundhog has spoken, and it’s official: 6 more weeks of winter. Luckily, this is the best kind of news to hear when living in sunny South Florida. With the cooler weather predicted to stay in place, that means all the more reason to spend your weekends outside. This week, let’s take a look at some ways you can spend your next weekend in Martin County, Florida.
The Banyan Tree Tunnel in Stuart, Florida
Try taking a drive down St. Lucie Blvd and going through the famous Banyan Tree Tunnel. Did you know that the Banyan Tree is native to India? It was introduced to Florida by Thomas Alva Edison in 1925 when he planted the first one in the US. It was around 4 feet tall at the time. This tree is still alive covering over 400 feet, reported being the third-largest Banyan tree in the world. Whether you want to drive through the tunnel, or walk through and have a photoshoot, it’s one of our favorite spots to take in nature, not to mention it’s just a block from the beach.
