It’s hard to believe that Spring Break is right around the corner, and when you get to call Jupiter home, a staycation sounds like the best of plans. The local attractions, camps, and activities in Palm Beach County provide boundless amounts of fun for all of the family. We have compiled a 2022 guide for you, and your kids, to make the most of your break.
Catch a Spring Training Game at Roger Dean Stadium
The MLB’s spring training season comes around once a year with baseball fans from all over the country flocking to the Sunshine State. Jupiter’s ballpark, Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, is home to the Miami Marlins and St Louis Cardinals during the spring season. Tickets are finally on sale this year, and Roger Dean is offering their Kid’s Club. For only $25 the membership includes tickets to all Saturday games, an official Kids Club membership card, a free hot dog and soda at each game, an official Kids Club shirt, and a 10% discount on purchases at the team store.
2. Bluewater Surf Camp
What’s a better summer tease than 5 days of surf camp? Whether your kids are just beginning, or advanced, Bluewater Surf is holding two weeks of camp during Spring Break 2022, Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 2 PM accompanied by a complimentary 8:30 AM early drop off. Bluewater offers kids a fun and safe learning environment all while enjoying the freedom of the outdoors and the ocean.
3. Visit the Animals at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary
The Busch Wildlife Sanctuary is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and conservation of Florida’s wildlife and natural resources. Take a walk on their trail through pine fatwoods, oak hammocks, and cypress wetlands, or visit the Discovery Center and learn with interactive exhibits. The Sanctuary offers free admission and is open from 10 am to 4:30 pm daily.
4. Paddle the Loxahatchee River in Jonathan Dickinson State Park
The largest State Park in Southeast Florida is the best place to do some paddling in Jupiter. Winding through the park is the mighty Loxahatchee River where you’ll spot everything from the century-old wonders of water lilies, air plants, slash pines, and Spanish moss. Keep your eyes open, you might find a manatee feeding on the river vegetation. The park concession rents canoes and single and double kayaks for hours of family fun.
5. Climb the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse
Located in Lighthouse Park, Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum offers climbing tours of the landmark 1860 lighthouse. The Museum (restored WWII building) exhibits Five Thousand Years on the Loxahatchee and outdoor exhibits include the Oil House, Keepers Workshop Exhibit, Tindall Pioneer Homestead, and Seminole Chickee. Pro tip: pack some lunch, a few beach chairs, wear your bathing suit, and walk down to the inlet in front of the museum to go for a dip in the inlet and enjoy the waterfront views.
6. Loggerhead Marine Life Center
Pay a visit at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center after a long day at the beach, or sign up for their seasonal camps aligned with Palm Beach County public school holidays! Register your aspiring scientists to follow in the footsteps of their marine biologist staff members as they learn the journey of the sea turtle patients through their recovery and what conservation tools they can employ to make sure no sea turtles get injured on their watch.
7. Picnic at Riverbend Park
Take a step back in time and enjoy walking, bicycling, riding, or canoeing through beautiful and historic Riverbend Park. From the ancient Indian middens, through the Seminole War Battles, to present-day restoration, see Florida as the first settlers did. Nearly 10 miles of hiking/biking trails and 5 miles of canoeing/kayaking trails allow for hours of enjoyment. Stroll along with the Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River, visit the Cracker Farmstead, and picnic in the shade under a Seminole chickee.
